The National League for Democracy is the legitimate government, not the military junta that betrayed parliamentary elections and has oppressed the people for too many years. The NLD and its leader Aung San Suu Kyi, herself under house arrest, need our support -- to ensure the world never forgets. In recent years we have seen demonstrated amazing courage by ordinary people in Burma; the least we can do is give their cause our time, and thought, and activism.
Pressure on the junta can work; for example, the Chinese government is Burma's principal backer and every Chinese representative ought to be reminded that the world still watches Burma."
